SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PLEIN AIR PAINTERS ASSOCIATION

This April, the Southern California Plein Air Painters Association (SOCALPAPA) will host a “Painting the California Landscape” juried exhibition at Mission San Juan Capistrano. There will be an Outdoor Weekend Sales Show associated with the exhibition, which will run Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and April 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All paintings on display will be for sale, with 25 percent of sales going to the restoration of the Mission. ROCKY MOUNTAIN PLEIN AIR PAINTERS   

From July 27 through August 3, the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters (RMPAP) will host their 2008 National Event in Winter Park, Colorado. Throughout the weekend there will be a fine-art exhibition and sale, demonstrations and workshops, a national juried event, a quick draw, and close to 40 artists creating more than 250 paintings from the Winter Park and Frasier Valley areas. TUCSON PLEIN AIR PAINTERS SOCIETY

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, in Tucson, will host this year’s Tucson Plein Air Painters Society (TPAPS) Juried Artist Member Show, from April 5 through May 19. Held during what’s expected to be the best desert floral season in years, this show includes a quick draw and an opening reception, which will be held on Saturday, April 5. MID-ATLANTIC PLEIN AIR PAINTERS ASSOCIATION

The Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association’s (MAPAPA) 2008 Paint Snow Hill exhibition and event will take place April 18 through April 20 at Bishop’s Stock Fine Art & Fine Craft, in Snow Hill, Maryland. Along with the event, Bishop’s—an art center located on the site of a 19th-century livery stable—will host a plein air workshop with nationally recognized artist-instructor Lee Boynton on April 14 and April 15. PLEIN AIR PAINTERS OF THE SOUTHEAST

This April, the Plein Air Painters of the Southeast (PAP-SE) will conduct their annual workshop and exhibition on St. Simons Island, Georgia. The opening reception on Friday, April 25 will showcase plein air paintings of the surrounding Sea Islands as well as larger studio pieces of American landscapes. Anderson Fine Art Gallery, on St. Simons Island, will host the show as well as a three-day plein air workshop from April 19 through April 21.
